Triton Financial to become Title Sponsor of Austin's Champions Tour Event
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 21, 2008
AUSTIN, TX – Texas Governor Rick Perry today announced, along with tournament officials and Champions Tour professionals Ben Crenshaw and Tom Kite that Triton Financial will become the new title sponsor of the Austin Champions Tour Event through 2011. The tournament, formally known as the FedEx Kinko’s Classic, will continue to be played at The Hills Country Club. The Triton Financial Classic will be held June 1 – 7, 2009.
“Sports are an enduring passion for Texans, and also a powerful force within our state’s local economies, pumping millions of dollars into them every year,” said Gov. Rick Perry. “Triton brings the city of Austin a fresh perspective on professional golf and a long standing connection to the sporting world – qualities that will help this strong event move to the next level of professionalism and impact.”
Triton Financial is an Official Partner of the Heisman Trophy Trust and employs several Heisman Trophy Winners and former NFL and collegiate athletes. Utilizing those relationships, Triton Financial plans to involve additional local and national sports celebrities in the Champions Tour. The sponsorship is a three-year agreement that will run from 2009 to 2011. The event is the first of three Champions Tour events played in Texas and has a history of great champions. In 2008, it appeared Nick Price was on his way to his first Champions Tour victory, but eventually finished tied for runner up after Denis Watson’s final round five-stroke come-from-behind surge secured the title by one stroke for his second victory of the 2008 season.
The Austin event has also become a fixture on the Champions Tour because of the support of local professionals Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite and Tom Jenkins.
“Triton is pleased to partner and align our brand with a quality organization like the Champions Tour,” said Kurt Barton, President and CEO of Triton Financial. “The tournament has been one of the Champions Tour player’s favorite stops and it is our honor to step in and help this tradition continue. In addition, the Champions Tour offers us a unique opportunity to incorporate our annual Heisman Winners Anniversary event.”
Triton Financial is a nationally recognized alternative investment company founded in 2002 and based in Austin, Texas. Triton provides opportunities through commercial real estate, venture capital/private equity, and income-producing debt instruments. Risk-adjusted return objectives are achieved through seeking out investments that provide income and can be purchased at deep discounts. Triton Financial currently employs over 100 people throughout the United States.
“We are both encouraged and delighted that a key event on the Champions Tour will continue its presence in Austin thanks to Triton Financial,” said Mike Stevens, President of the Champions Tour. “In the current climate, savvy sponsors like Triton recognize the value of the Champions Tour product to enhance their branding and business development strategies. This is great news for Austin area golf fans and the Champions Tour.”
The event will continue to be managed by Pro Links Sports. Ticket, sponsor and volunteer information are available at www.tritonfinancial.com or (512) 732-2666.
